Overview

You may have the skills to do the job but do you have the skills to get the job?

Unfortunately, many people fail at the application or interview stage through simple mistakes, poor presentation and lack of appropriate preparation.

This session is designed to provide staff with the fundamental skills of preparing a resume or curriculum vitae (CV) and conducting themselves in interviews.

Topics include

  • Career planning skills - determining what you want from your career and developing a plan to achieve this.
  • Job application skills - how to prepare a resume or CV that will have impact, make the most of your skills and experiences and stand out from the numerous other applicants
  • Interview skills - preparing for an interview, performing in an interview (getting across strengths, downplaying weaknesses, answering difficult questions etc.)
